  • Radish
  • Radish is a cool season crop. It can be grown on a wide range of soils, but Light, soft and moist soil produces roots of poor quality.
  • Radish can be sown directly. No need for transplanting. Soil should be well prepared by digging deeply and making friable. It is better if there is no clod, stone and weeds in the soil. The spacing should be 10-15 cm between plants and 30 cm between rows.
  • The White Radish is not advised to be grown in pots as deep pots are required and they generally do not do well.
  • The harvesting should be done when the roots are still tender. It is generally after 40-45 days of sowing. Prior to harvesting, light irrigation is given, it will soften the soil. The roots are pulled out along with the tops and washed in running water.

Step by Step Growth Guide

1. Sowing

Radish can be sown by direct method

Take a pot, preferably rectangular with a minimum depth of 10"-12". Fill it with POT-O-MIX.

If your wish to grow in ground then prepare the seedbed (Refer to growing through seeds guidelines)

Sow the seeds at a depth of 0.6 cms

In pots keep spacing of 15 cms apart and if on seed beds then 15 cms between plants and 30 cms between rows.

Water lightly.

2. Nurturing

The seeds will germinate in 4 - 6 days.

Radish plants require full sunlight (6 - 8 hours) daily. Keep your pots accordingly.

Watering should be done daily.

Fertilisation can be done after 25 days. Once is enough. Choose from ORGANIC or INORGANIC options.

The harvesting can be done after 40 - 45 days of sowing.

Harvesting by uprooting the whole plant with roots & leaves from the soil.
