  • F1 Hybrid Carrot
  • Carrot is a cool season crop but very low temperatures are detrimental to its growth. The fruit colour turns pale and sometimes the plant goes into seeding.
  • Carrot thrives best on a deep, friable loam soil. This is necessary for penetration of roots into the soil. In heavy soils the roots become rough and coarse as they can not penetrate the hard soil evenly. Carrots are sown directly. No need to transplant. Prior to sowing, soil should be prepared well by deep ploughing to ensure softness for root penetration and growth. The seeds are sown at the distance of 10 cm between plants and 15 cm between rows.
  • The seeds in this packet are of early nantes variety. These are well shaped, orange in colour, cylindrical in shape with a stumped end. The skin is thin and the flesh is sweet.
  • Prior to sowing the seeds are rubbed to remove fine hairs. The soil should have sufficient moisture for proper and quality roots. Carrots are not grown in pots as it is not practical. They are grown in the ground only.
  • Carrots are ready for harvest within 60-70 days from the time of sowing. When carrots are fully mature and ready for lifting, the outer leaves begin to wilt and the remaining foliage curls up. Harvesting is done immediately. Pulling of carrot roots becomes easy when the ground is watered lightly, 24 hours prior to pulling. For harvesting, garden fork or spade may be used to loosen the carrot from the soil and then pull out with the foliage.
  • The variety in this packet is of improved selection type. The fruits are crispy and bright dark orange colour.
  • The centre core is small, giving it more taste. The fruits are uniform in shape and size. They are disease tolerant.
  • To obtain more & better quality of fruit use Super Vegetable fertilizer once every 15 days and once every 7 days when the buds appear (Instruction on the product pack.)
