Step by Step Growth Guide

1. Sowing

Take a pot with minimum of 10" to 12" depth and bigger diameter

Fill it up with POT-O-MIX. It is the ideal growing medium.

If you want to grow in ground / seed beds then prepare the seedbed (Refer to Growing through seeds guidelines)

In pot sow 2-3 seeds per hole (0.5 cms deep) at 8" apart. If in ground then 30cms X 30cms apart.

Water lightly such that seeds are not dislodged.

If there is strong sunlight then cover the pot / seed bed with 75% shade net for the first few days.

2. Nurturing

The seeds will begin to germinate in about 6-8 days in the form of tiny seedlings.

Proper seedlings will be ready in about 12-15 days.

Remove the weaker ones and keep one healthy seedling per hole.

Ensure that seedlings get full sunlight for at least 6 hours since they are grown in Winter months.

Normally watering should be done daily. If in doubt then check the soil moisture. If wet do not water.

Spray appropriate medicines if there are any signs of diseases / infestations.

For better root formation, apply fertilizers that have low Nitrogen content but higher phosphorus and potassium content. Fertilize once plants are 25 days old and continue at intervals of every 15 days. You can choose from ORGANIC or INORGANIC option.

Beet roots, are ready for harvest in about 65-70 days from sowing.

Harvesting should be done by carefully uprooting the roots from the soil. Twist the top leaves and do not cut the top of the root as it will cause it to bleed.
